Hannah Slack - Research and Involvement Manager

Hannah is a Research and Involvement Manager at McPin.

She holds a PhD in Psychology and has a background in academic mental health research with a focus on university student well-being.

Before joining McPin, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at King’s College London, where she played a leading role in the design, delivery and analysis of a mixed-methods research project exploring loneliness, belonging and wellbeing during the transition to university. As part of this work, she led a range of involvement activities with students.

She is deeply passionate about ensuring research is shaped with people rather than about them.

Hannah has previously worked as a postdoctoral research associate at King’s College London. She has expertise in student well-being, loneliness, and belonging.

Hannah has a strong mixed-methods skillset, including psychometric scale development, longitudinal mixed-effects modelling, social network analysis, and qualitative research methods.

In her previous role, she also led student lived experience advisory groups, supervised student peer researchers, and co-developed a student-led podcast series.. During her doctoral studies, she also co-led a peer support group for students experienced low mood and anxiety for the student mental health charity, Student Minds.
