Project overview
The aim of the study is to see whether it is feasible to run a larger study that explores the effectiveness of patient-led appointment scheduling (PLAS) for people accessing psychological interventions via NHS Talking Therapies services.
Project details
PLAS aims to give patients more control over how they access mental health care, by allowing them to choose how often they attend appointments and how many sessions they attend.
We think that psychological interventions delivered by PLAS could lead to improved cost-effectiveness, patient satisfaction, and better access when compared to current appointment scheduling approaches.
McPin will be recruiting and hosting an eight-member lived experience advisory panel (LEAP), which will be led by a peer researcher at McPin.
The LEAP will work collaboratively throughout the project, meaning members will play an active role from the beginning of the study through to dissemination.
They will meet four times a year, to review and co-design materials such as participant facing documents and data collection tools, to co-analyse data and help with dissemination efforts.
Training will also be provided by McPin to allow all LEAP members to be involved in these activities. They will also have opportunities to attend trial management group meetings and co-production workshops.
