What’s the project?
Youth Connection is an award-winning 13-week programme run by GM.Digital, a partnership between the University of Manchester and the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a voluntary young people’s advisory group where you’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge, contribute to research, hear from leading academics, clinicians and professionals working in the mental health sector, enhance your CV and references, develop skills for careers in research, academia, healthcare, marketing and more, and meet new people.
You can find out more about the programme on their website, https://www.gmdigital.org/youth-connection, and on their Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gm.digitaluk/.

The group meets weekly online every Tuesday from 6.30 to 7.30pm for three months, with GM.Digital Manager Heidi Tranter and GM.Digital Comms and Engagement Coordinator, Mia Vines Booth. The sessions are welcoming and inclusive, and the team often use interactive elements and have discussions, as well as talks, Q&As and the opportunity to co-design a prototype research output at the end.
This group is for young people aged 14-25 who want to gain valuable experience in mental health research. No lived experience is necessary. You’ll need to complete the full online course to receive a certificate at the end. Youth Connection is a Duke of Edinburgh-accredited programme.
Youth Connection will help you expand your skills in research and enhance your CV.
GM.Digital can provide references, one-on-one career support, and you’ll be added to a network of over 200 young people, where they regularly share involvement opportunities, many of which are paid.
