Join our workshop to create a video for a project supporting young people with sleep and wellbeing

What’s the project?

We are working with researchers at the University of Bristol to create and evaluate online sleep and mental health support for young people.

The University of Bristol, with the help of over 100 young people, has created three science-based apps to support young people with their sleep and wellbeing.

The Sleep Well study will give 1000 14-18 year olds the opportunity to try out these apps, to find out how useful they are at helping young people to sleep and feel better.

We need to give young people who are interested in taking part in the study some information about the study before they can agree to take part. Young people have told us that they it would be helpful to have this information in video form, as well as in writing.

We want to ask you what that video should look like.

We will be hosting an online group workshop where we will chat as a group about what style and format would make the video easy to understand and interesting.

The workshop will take place on the 25th June between 5-6.30pm.

The group will include up to 6 young people, and 3 facilitators (from McPin and the University of Bristol).

After the workshop there will be further opportunities to be involved in the video yourself. This could be recording content, doing a voice over or providing visuals for the video – we’d love to have you involved to shape the video in any way you’d like.

  • Aged 14-18 years old
  • Be based in the UK
  • An interest or experience of sleep challenges
  • Somewhere quiet to join the workshop where you won’t be interrupted
  • Access to a stable internet connection (if you have any concerns about this, please get in touch as we do have funds which can assist with digital costs)
  • Access to a camera to join online meetings with video. For safety, all of our online meetings require people to have their video on, if you have any worries about this please do email and we discuss what support we have to help with this.
    IMPORTANT

    Before joining the workshop, we will offer you a call with a member of McPin staff. In this call we will ask for a form of age verification, a document with your photo, name and date of birth. This could be a passport, Student ID card, voter ID, access card, drivers’ licence, proof of age card etc. If you have any worries about not having an appropriate document, please reach out and one of our team can support!

    Mental health and sleep issues affect everyone, but recruitment in our young people’s groups does not always reflect this. Therefore, we actively encourage Black, Asian and Minority ethnic applicants and those who identify as LGBTQ+ to apply.
