What’s the project?
A research team at the University of Cambridge, Department of Psychiatry, which carries out research into Child and Adolescent Mental Health are planning to analyse data from two large, national datasets. One of these is called the National Pupil Database and the other is called Mental Health of Children and Young People (MHYCP). These databases can tell us about things that are important for youth mental health. To help the team plan their analyses and research questions, they want to know what experiences are most important to you.
You are invited to take part in a discussion, to help shape future research and tell the research team what is important to you. This session will be about getting your input on their research questions and plans for which variables to focus on in the analysis of the datasets. A researcher will meet you online or in person, with a small group of other young people.

The research team at Cambridge are asking for individuals to speak with them in a one-off meeting, for up to one-hour. The time and date will be arranged depending on the availability of the group. If you would like to stay in touch for further opportunities, there will be an opportunity to leave your details with the team at the end of the session.
The research team will tell you about their ideas and do some activities to help you share your opinion (e.g. a card sort activity). Examples of topics the team might discuss are school experiences, mental health, learning difficulties, identity, family, community. You do not need to do anything to prepare, as the team will guide you through the discussion.
