Social prescribing: take part in a roundtable for young people interested in improving social prescribing

Mental health services • Public mental health • Young people

What’s the project?

“Social prescribing” is when people are connected to non-medical forms of support, for example creative or sports activities, or advice to help with their education or housing situation. There is growing evidence that this can support young people’s health and wellbeing. Researchers based at University College London facilitate the Social Prescribing Youth Network.

This network is made up of more than 1,200 people across the UK who are interested in social prescribing for young people, including people working in healthcare, community organisations and policymaking. It aims to connect these people and provide resources, training, and events to support the growing youth social prescribing movement.

The team are holding a roundtable with young people as we want to make sure young people’s views are heard. Insights from the roundtable will complement the other roundtables (with policymakers, researchers etc.) and help inform best practice guidelines for youth social prescribing that the research team are developing.
