STREAM Study (Study of Transitional Experiences of Autistic young people with Mood Disorders and their clinicians) LEAP

Bipolar • Depression • Mental health services • Neurodiversity • Young people

What’s the project?

The STREAM study is aiming to explore the experiences of young autistic adults with mood disorders who have recently transitioned from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS). It is also aiming to explore the experiences of the healthcare professionals who work with these young people.

Dr Barbara Salas, Academic Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry based at the University of Newcastle is looking to recruit a lived experience advisory panel (LEAP) of people who either have lived experience or professional experience. They are interested in gaining a better insight on how to support young autistic people and their parents and carers through this move between services. Your input will help make the study relevant for young people and healthcare professionals and will be a core part of a study that will help improve services for autistic young adults with mood disorders.

The STREAM study has been approved by the Newcastle University Research Ethics Committee.
