Remit of the group
The CLAHRC East of England has a number of themes and is carrying out research projects in the following areas. PPI is a cross-cutting theme.
• dementia, frailty and end-of-life care
• enduring disability and disadvantage (EDD)
• patient safety
• health economics
• patient and public involvement
Each project is required to include PPI/service users in the research process.
Our core strategic principles for PPI within the CLAHRC EoE are for it to be “embedded, comprehensive and active” within the organisation, themes and projects.
The PPI co-ordinating group is co-chaired by the CLAHRC EoE PPI Lead and a Public representative. It comprises researchers (each representing a CLAHRC research theme) and patient and public representatives.
The PPI co-ordinating group supports the objectives of the CLAHRC PPI strategy and looks at what PPI is happening in the themes. Members share their experience and learning in PPI from different perspectives, and raise ideas for ways CLAHRC can support researchers with PPI across the region (e.g. training). Members of the PPI co-ordinating group also link into National and regional PPI activities, groups and organisations.
Frequency of meetings
Every three months
Who can consult the group?
Researchers within CLAHRC East of England (although we would also be happy to hear from other researchers/service users within the East of England who might be interested in working with the CLAHRC).
