Remit of the group
Mental health specific.
The group is hosted at Anglia Ruskin University in the faculty of Health, Social Care and Education. Meetings provide a forum for reviewing ongoing projects, planning new work and maintaining appropriate group procedures.
One part time service user researcher/administrators (Maxine Nightingale) has an appointment at the university and leads on commissioned projects as well as organising meetings and providing training and support for other members
Members have worked on commissioned consultations and evaluations, including developing research proposals, questionnaires, interview schedules and topic guides. They have also conducted interviews, carried out data entry and analysis and contributed to writing reports and articles.

As and when required depending on project – additional training etc. as required in relation to specific work

Any general enquiries regarding mental health service user involvement in research or specific projects welcomed.

In 2012 a mental health service user research group NERN (the North Essex Research Network) was established in North Essex. SE-SURG & NERN work collaboratively and meet jointly. Named contacts are the same for both groups.
