Remit of the group
The group consists of 15 people with long term physical and/or mental health problems. PenPIG (Peninsula Public Involvement Group) is a user-led advisory group. It is made up of members of the public, service users and carers. Its aim is to advise PenCLAHRC on all aspects of user involvement. This group has representation on PenCLAHRC’s Management Board and on the stakeholder group which prioritises research projects.
Members of PenPIG have also been involved in a wide range of activities related to the running and work of PenCLAHRC. These include participation in the recruitment of new staff, the development of PenCLAHRC’s on-line research question generation tool, participation in the teaching of medical students, the writing of applications for research funding, advising and supporting patient and public involvement in on-going research projects and presenting at conferences.
Frequency of meetings
The group hold quarterly business meetings. Additional meetings as and when required to support research or other PenCLAHRC activities
Who can consult the group?
The group supports the work of PenCLAHRC but individual members may wish to contribute to external research projects if interested.
